I have heard friends and co-workers on more than one occasion refer to the University of Florida as the “Harvard of the South”. No, friends…you’re a public university in the state of Florida just like FSU, UCF, FIU and a handful of other colleges…you’re not special.
From its years as the only big school in the state, it has produced generations of alumni that honestly think they are something different than the rest of us who graduated from schools like Florida State. Yes, UF is a great academic school nationally…but it’s no different than the education you get from any of the other state funded schools. Sorry to burst your bubbles.
