Amir Rasul

Amir Rasul came to FSU football as a consensus four-star running back and the No. 9 running back in the nation.

It’s hard for a true freshman running back to see the field at elite programs such as FSU football. In particular, when there’s a generational talent like Dalvin Cook listed as the starter and Rasul wasn’t an early enrollee like some other freshmen.

However, Rasul has gotten the attention of Jimbo Fisher a number of occasions during fall camp. Rasul has ridiculous speed, but has exhibited the ability to run with more power than many realized he had coming out of high school.

Apparently, sophomore running back Jacques Patrick isn’t running with the power that Fisher expects from a back his size, and Fisher will play the running backs that are doing the work in practice.

I don’t expect Rasul to get a ton of playing time simply because Dalvin Cook will be featured most of the time, but Cook doesn’t need to carry the ball near 230 times again this season. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Rasul in there along with Jonathan Vickers to give Cook a breather or two.
