Charlie Ward

The first Heisman Trophy winner in program history has to be on the list. While his numbers compared to today’s standards would be considered pedestrian, Ward was one of the first quarterback to use his arms AND legs to lead a team from under center.

Ward took the Seminoles to their first national title in a season when he was clearly the best player in all of college football while missing nearly two full games with an injury (sounds like a certain running back from 2015 for the ‘Noles, but I digress).

Since that magical season, other quarterbacks have won Heismans and national titles for the ‘Noles, but Ward being the one who got FSU football their first title is enough to cemented his name and likeness on the Mount  Rushmore in Tallahassee.
