Areas outside Tallahassee

While there is plenty to do and see in the city of Tallahassee when you come to watch FSU football, the Big Bend region also has plenty to offer that can help you make it a long weekend and enjoy the area.

If you’re in the mood for some wine tasting, you can head to the Dakotah Vineyards (Chiefland), the Monticello Vineyards or the Three Oaks Winery (Vernon). Ginnie Springs Outdoors provides families with a chance to enjoy the outdoors, with activities such as canoeing, kayaking and diving in crystal clear water.

While Tallahassee looks to be landlocked on a map, it isn’t the far from some of the top beaches in the country. Just miles away from FSU are towns like St. Marks, St. George Island, Apalachicola, Sopchoppy and (if you haven’t been there on spring break at least once in your life) Panama City Beach.

To the north of the city, you’re just a gallon of gas or so from the state of Georgia and the city of Thomasville. There, you can enjoy places like the Pebble Hill Plantation and the city’s Rose Garden, part of the city’s charm as the City of Roses with their annual Rose Parade each April.
