UNC Recruiting

The Tarheels were not ahead of the ‘Noles during our last update, but the they now have eight commitments for the 2017 class thus far with an average rating of 90.51. That’s a full 2.21 points less on average per player than FSU recruiting.

However, that’s excellent for a program like UNC that’s in a state that doesn’t produce a huge amount of elite talent while having to compete powerhouse programs that cherry pick the best talent in North Carolina.

The class consists of five four-stars and three three-star recruits. Three of the five four-star recruits are from North Carolina, so the Tarheels are doing a better job of keeping that in-state talent home early in the cycle.

The Tarheels have five commitments on the offensive side of the ball, not surprising for an offensive minded coach like Larry Fedora. However, look for them to fill up on the defensive side of things as well since that’s been the Achilles heel for that program for the past few years.

The Tarheels recruiting class is ranked No. 13 nationally and No. 3 in the ACC.
