Miami Recruiting

The Canes have 14 commitments for the 2017 class thus far with an average rating of 87.69. That’s near five points less on average per player than FSU recruiting.

Translation=The only reason Miami’s class is ranked No. 1 in the ACC and No. 4 nationally is because of the number of commitments they have. Quantity over quality for Mark Richt and staff.

The class consists of 4 four-star recruits and 10 three-star recruits.

Miami had a ton of commitments in 2016 only to see 25 of them to de-commit. A whopping 76 percent of those de-commitments were three-star recruits.

Miami coach Mark Richt has a tough job. He needs quality players to compete with Florida State, Clemson, UNC and others in the ACC. However, there’s a real lack of elite talent so Richt is compensating with sheer numbers to build depth it seems. Miami is on the radar of a few upper tier recruits, so it’ll be interesting to see if they can hold on to the top spot.
