Basketball in the Sunshine State

Each team would play 12 games against their own division (with North Florida and Florida Gulf Coast adding to the fun and being the natural rivals in other sports besides football) as they would play each team twice. After playing their natural rival twice, each team will play one game each against four teams from the opposite division, rotating every two years.

Judging on how the 2015-16 season went on the hardwood in the Sunshine State, it would be hard to argue that the Miami Hurricanes wouldn’t be the favorite to win the new Florida Sun Conference. Head coach Jim Larranaga loses some of his talent off last year’s Sweet 16 team, but is still the best team in the state.

This may be the most competitive sport in the whole conference, as FSU and Florida both have tournament experiences and will bring in some pretty solid recruits to teams that both return some top talent next year. The middle of the conference isn’t bad either, as Florida Gulf Coast is not stranger to the tournament and schools like UNF, FAU and even UCF can make some noise.
