Let’s take a look at how FSU’s Olympic sports teams did this past week.

While much of the attention is paid to the major FSU sports, including football, basketball and baseball, there is plenty of other athletic competition going on right now on the Tallahassee campus and across the country involving the ‘Noles. Here’s a recap of how some of the Olympic sports fared this past week.

Softball

All the Lady ‘Noles do of late is win, win, win no matter what. After suffering their first loss in over a month and a half last weekend, FSU softball took their midweek showdown against Jacksonville before sweeping a weekend series with ACC foe N.C. State. The currently ninth ranked Seminoles will hit the road for a top ten showdown with the rival Florida Gators this Wednesday before hitting the road for a three game series at Boston College.

Beach Volleyball

Maybe the most successful team for all of FSU athletics this spring has been the ladies on the sand. This weekend, the Lady ‘Noles were down in Siesta Key where they lost just two games the entire weekend and got four victories over Louisiana-Monroe, FAU, UNC-Wilmington and North Florida. FSU will play their first tournament of the season at home this coming weekend as they host UAB, Georgia State, Tulane and College of Charleston.

Men’s and Women’s Track and Field

Team members for the Seminoles were out on the West Coast this weekend, participating in the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational in Los Angeles. FSU will get to play host this weekend to teams and runners from across the country at the annual Seminole Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

Men’s Tennis

Florida State was home again this weekend and it was a good thing for the ‘Noles. After getting an ACC win Friday in a thriller over Louisville, the Seminoles took the court for two games on Sunday and left victorious in both by beating N.C. State and Bethune-Cookman. FSU will finish off their regular season on the road next weekend against Boston College.

Women’s Tennis

It has been a season to forget for the Lady ‘Noles, but the weekend started out well with a road win in the ACC against N.C. State. On Sunday, FSU lost a tough 4-3 game against Wake Forest. They will return home this weekend to finish up the regular season with two games Friday against Troy and Louisville before completing the schedule Sunday against Pittsburgh.

Men’s Golf

FSU was back on the course in a big way, as the sixth ranked Seminoles finished in fourth place during the annual Cabarrus County Irish Creek Collegiate Tournament. FSU will get another week off as they prepare for the ACC Championships, being held this year in New London, North Carolina.

Women’s Golf

The Lady ‘Noles had the week off as they prepare for the ACC Championships this coming weekend in Greensboro, North Carolina. In their last outing, FSU finished in third place at the Bryan National Collegiate Tournament also held in North Carolina.
