FSU Spring Practice: Top 5 Things Going Into Spring Game
By Kelvin Hunt
I wrote three reasons why I felt Sean Maguire should be the starting quarterback in 2016. At the time, my reasoning was based on the inexperience of Deondre Francois and Maguire knowledge of the playbook.
I think I may be changing my mind.
There were early reports out of spring practice indicating that Francois could be taking those next steps toward becoming the starting quarterback in 2016. He was becoming a leader in the clubhouse. His teammates were beginning to trust him more, and most importantly, Francois was usually the last player to leave practice each day.
I love that type of stuff and it’s important for a young player to develop that work ethic. That’s how good players become great.
Fisher will likely not name starting quarterback until the fall. He’ll let Maguire heal up and then allow them to compete for the job, especially since Maguire has been out of action with an injury.
Francois’s spring game performance will interesting to watch. Does he command the huddle, hit his check downs, and not turn the ball over?
