FSU Football: How Good Was 2015 Defense?
By Kelvin Hunt
If I had to give a direct answer regarding the FSU defense?
They were very good at times, but very average at times considering their talent level.
I don’t think any elite defense would allow teams to convert on third down at nearly 40 percent or nearly 50 percent on fourth down.
I would say that the 2015 FSU defense was elite at stiffening once teams got inside scoring range and forced either field goals or got some timely turnovers.
FSU has to do a better job of getting stops on first and second down, forcing teams into third a long situations.
FSU has to do a better job of winning at the line of scrimmage. It speaks volumes when Derwin James was second on the team in sacks coming from the secondary.
FSU gave up nearly 1,900 rushing yards (No. 36 nationally) and nearly 2,500 yards passing (No. 26 nationally).
