AH: Who does Florida State see as the biggest threat on Saturday?

PN: Everett Golson. The Seminoles’ defense has had issues with gap discipline and eye discipline all season. Against Notre Dame, if FSU plays out of its gaps or if the pass rush crashes down to the QB and doesn’t stay in its lanes then Golson is going to gash the ‘Noles. If FSU can contain Golson, the secondary should be capable of limiting him through the air. It’s when the play breaks down and Golson starts to use his legs that things could get hair.

DV: Yeah, it has to be Golson. Look at FSU’s closest contests this year: Oklahoma State, Clemson, and NC State. What do they have in common? Mobile quarterbacks. FSU had the Pokes down 17-0 before J.W. Walsh began scrambling and punishing the Seminoles’ undisciplined defense. Similarly, Deshaun Watson gave Florida State fits when he came in off the bench for Clemson. And, of course, the ‘Noles found themselves down 24-7 in Raleigh, largely due to horrendous tackling against a slippery Jacoby Brissett. Look for Matthew Thomas to factor in big on defending Golson.
