Nick O’Leary Has a Day

Nick O’Leary has now caught more touchdown passes than any tight end in Florida State history– not that FSU has a rich history of great tight end play. That’s not to take anything away from O’Leary though, the senior tight end has developed into one of the best in the nation over the past two seasons.

On Saturday — after catching just two passes for 22 yards in FSU’s past two games — O’Leary exploded for eight receptions 97 yards and a touchdown.

“Nick is my brother from another mother and another color,” said Jameis Winston after the game. “Me and Nick have been frustrated, man. We live in the end zone, especially Nick and he loves being there, so today was just a great day. He got open, he was fed up with not being in there and he was happy he got in there today.”

O’Leary made a couple of impressive plays on Saturday. His touchdown — a 21-yard leaping reception over the middle — showcased his athleticism while the one-handed catch he made in the third quarter showed off his concentration and soft hands.

It’s probably a safe bet you’ll see Syracuse show up a few times on O’Leary’s college highlight reel.
