5.) The Return of Jameis Winston

Jameis Winston has been known to come out a little over-hyped when he’s trying to make a big statement during a game– the ACC Championship game and last year’s Miami game come to mind — and it will be important for Florida State that he’s not overzealous early on.

Depending on how NC State chooses to attack the Florida State offense, it’s possible Winston might get some chances to throw the ball vertically early. With the Seminoles’ run game struggling, the Wolfpack could look to load the box in an effort to make FSU one-dimensional from the outset. While this probably isn’t the best tactic, it will give Winston some one-on-one looks for his tight ends and receivers. If that’s the case, look for Winston to let it rip early.

If it’s not though, and NC State opts to pay more attention to the passing game early on while forcing FSU to prove it can establish the run– then Winston is going to need to take what the Wolfpack defense gives him and avoid forcing throws.

The atmosphere tomorrow will be daunting, turnovers will amplify that.

That’s why it’s so important that Winston stay level-headed and not come out too hyped. If he can lead the offense to a few productive drives early on, it will help get the crowd out of the game while the defense settles down. If he comes out too amped and makes mistakes, FSU’s day could fall apart in a hurry.
