FSU basketball will take part in a tournament this November across the panhandle that features plenty of teams who were also part of March Madness.

Over the past few seasons, the FSU basketball team has not been shy about playing a schedule of games that feature some of the top teams in the country – on top of making it to the NCAA Tournament the last three postseasons, twice heading to the second weekend of games as part of the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight.

If the Seminoles are going to continue that streak of solid postseason showings, the schedule in the upcoming season – a year that will include 20 ACC games for the first time in the history of the conference – is going to have to be stacked…and the Noles took a huge step toward accomplishing that goal.

This coming November, FSU Basketball will be traveling over to the western part of Florida’s panhandle to take part in the annual Emerald Coast Classic – and the field so far is becoming more and more stacked by the day.

So far, the Seminoles are one of four teams that made it to the tournament last season – joined by Purdue, Tennessee and VCU – that will be playing in the event scheduled for November 29th and 30th inside the campus of Northwest Florida State College in Niceville.

"“We jumped at the chance to play in the 2019 Emerald Coast Classic,” said Seminole Head Coach Leonard Hamilton. “Not only is it a great field of teams which gives us some phenomenal early season games but the tournament is in a part of our state where we haven’t played before.”"

Ahead of their trip further west in the panhandle, the Seminoles will face two opponents inside the Tucker Center out of four possible teams – Chattanooga, Chicago State, Alabama State or Jacksonville State – with those games being released later in the summer months.

On the surface, it seems like just another random tournament early on in the season for FSU basketball – but like last season when the Seminoles played tournament teams LSU and Villanova during a tournament at Disney World, being part of a stacked field can do nothing but build the confidence and talent of this year’s squad.
