FSU football will be in the national spotlight one week from Saturday as the annual football scrimmage will be televised nationally.

Last season, FSU football gave fans from the central and southern parts of the state a special treat when the annual Garnet and Gold spring game was moved to Orlando during renovations inside Doak Campbell Stadium. This year, the game is back in Tallahassee – but fans who may not be able to make it will still get a chance to watch.

In fact, the entire nation is going to get a chance to see head coach Jimbo Fisher’s team take on each other.

On Tuesday, ESPN announced that 21 college spring games and scrimmages will be televised on one of the networks that falls under their control. Not surprising, the Seminoles’ annual conclusion of spring drills will be one of them. What is surprising is how much exposure the game that doesn’t actually count in the record books will be getting:

Of the 21 games that are being broadcast by ESPN, just the ones involving FSU football and their opening day opponent, Alabama, are going to be televised on the mothership. Not defending national champ Clemson…not any other ACC or SEC school…not crazy Jim Harbaugh at Michigan or Urban Meyer at Ohio State, but the Seminoles and the Crimson Tide (a matchup the network also confirmed will be either on ESPN or ABC to start the season).

On the surface, some may not see this as a big deal – but it’s huge in the sense of continuing how high people are thinking the ‘Noles could be in the 2017 season. Currently, the Worldwide Leader has FSU football ranked as the second best team heading into the end of spring – while some think that the Seminoles could face the Crimson Tide twice next season in Atlanta…once in the opener and again in the College Football Playoff title game.

Tickets still remain for the game on April 8th at 3 p.m. inside Doak Campbell Stadium. You can purchase your general admission seats for $5 or Champions Club level seats for $50 by clicking here.
