Florida State won a matchup against Virginia Tech on Saturday night by a score of 34-14. The Seminoles now possess a 5-5 record with games against North Carolina State and Florida remaining on the schedule.
These two games are not necessarily layups for a team that hasn't won a road game since the 2023 meeting against the Gators when backup quarterback Tate Rodemaker had to step in for the injured starter Jordan Travis.
The reality is that Florida State has a combined 7-15 record over the past two seasons, and that isn't the standard of this proud university. This has caused fans to stop believing in Mike Norvell even with the 10-3 and 13–1 seasons in 2022 and 2023.
FRANKLIN TO VIRGINIA TECH
Florida State and Virginia Tech played on Saturday, like mentioned below, and it became a situation where whoever lost would probably be hiring the former Penn State head football coach James Franklin.
Some individuals criticize Franklin for not winning the "big game", but facing Ohio State and Oregon is much worse than facing Miami, Clemson, and Florida every year. The recruiting ability of Franklin was something that fans were excited about, especially in getting players to the NFL.
Virginia Tech announced that they will be hiring James Franklin on Monday afternoon.

With James Franklin going to Blacksburg, this looks like (barring any disaster) Mike Norvell will remain the head football coach at the end of the year for Florida State. This is not a situation where I believe that the Seminole faithful will not be happy, but the options in the carousel aren't great.
The Hokies will likely give Franklin as many resources as he needs to be successful there. However, there is so much parity in college football that teams such as Virginia are being successful in the conference.
