Florida State women's basketball team is still having a sensational season with the help of guard, Ta'Niya Latson, and forward, Makayla Timpson. Just like the men's basketball program, they are coming off a win versus arch-rival Miami Hurricanes by a score of 83-82.
This was an impressive feat to accomplish on the road without the services of Latson, who is averaging over 26 points per game. Guard O'Mariah Gordon (known by her nickname of OMG) had 34 points, seven assists, and one rebound. She shot 14 of 22 from the field.
Even though the Seminoles were favored by 11.5 points by a variety of sportsbooks, rivalry games are never easy, especially without your best player. However, Florida State got the job done as forward Makayla Timpson scored the winning basket with three seconds remaining in the game.
The Seminoles possess a 20-6 overall record (10-4 conference record). It was good to get back in the winning column after suffering losses to North Carolina State and Louisville at home.
Florida State comes back home from the one-game road trip to take on the Pittsburgh Panthers tonight at 6 PM EST on the ACC Network X. The Panthers have struggled this year with an 11-16 overall record and are on a two-game losing streak after their losses to Virginia and Notre Dame.
Forward Khadija Faye is their leading scorer, with 18.3 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. She has had 20+ points in the last three games. It looks like forward Makayla Timpson will be charged with guarding Faye.
I believe that the biggest talking point will be if guard Ta'Niya Latson plays in the contest after missing the Miami game. In my opinion, Latson is a tough competitor and wants to win. If she is remotely healthy, I think she will play.
