Florida State's women's basketball team has been on a roll since they defeated the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Sunday afternoon by a score of 97-68.
The attention has been on the men's basketball program with the Seminoles letting head basketball coach Leonard Hamilton walk at the end of the season. It was to be expected after collapsing versus Boston College on the road, which is one of the worst teams in the conference.
The Seminoles' women's team deserves proper recognition for the season that they have had. They have an overall record of 18-4 and guard Ta'Niya Latson has been balling out with her scoring ability where she scored a game-high 25 points.
After their win over Wake Forest, Florida State elevated to No. 22 in the recent AP poll.
The Seminoles need to be taken seriously. I am not suggesting that Florida State will win the championship this year with teams such as UCLA, South Carolina, Notre Dame, and UConn in contention.
However, I will not sell the Seminoles short with the offensive abilities of guard Ta'Niya Latson and forward Makayla Timpson leading the way.
Florida State has to play Virginia on the road on Thursday, February at 7 PM EST on ACC Extra. However, the real test will likely come versus North Carolina State at home, who is ranked No. 14, on Sunday, February 9th at 2 PM EST on the CW Network.
The Seminoles have a chance to make some serious noise in the conference before they take on No. 3 Notre Dame on the road on Thursday, February 27th at 8 PM EST on the ACC Network. Florida State is about to have some stiff competition to prove that they belong.
