FSU RECRUITING OUTLOOK
Florida State football's 2026 recruiting class is sitting outside the top 30, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. This is certainly not something that the Seminoles' fan base wants to see if the program wants to get back to competing for conference and national championships.
The coaching staff had several highly-touted prospects that officially visited this weekend. Most of the time, fans think that the final weekend of the summer has the most juice in terms of commitment news, but we see the Seminoles made a lot of noise during this weekend.
ANOTHER TALENTED DEFENSIVE BACK TO FSU?
Fans can complain about high school recruiting efforts from some of the Seminoles' coaching staff. However, one individual who has been red-hot has been defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr.
Florida State already has four-star Darryl "Tre" Bell III, four-star Tedarius Hughes, and three-star Sean Johnson in its defensive back haul. However, it is shooting for the stars for more talent. One to keep your eye on is four-star cornerback prospect CJ Bronaugh (Nebraska commit) from Windermere, Florida, who officially visited this weekend.
He is a top-100 prospect in the 2026 cycle, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. During his junior season, he recorded six interceptions (three of them were returned for touchdowns). Bronaugh has been committed to the Cornhuskers since November 2024, but several schools, such as Florida State, Penn State, and Florida, have been thinking of flipping his services.
While it is difficult to flip prospects that are already pledged to other programs, Florida State is putting its best foot forward in the recruitment. The Seminoles are already leading for five-star cornerback Chauncey Kennon and could have an inside track for Bronaugh.
This could be an encouraging sight to continue to acquire talent at the defensive back position to set the Seminoles up nicely.
