Will former FSU QB Jordan Travis start in his second season in the NFL?

Could this be the opportunity that Jordan Travis needs?

Florida State football had an exceptional 2023 campaign that included an undefeated regular season and a conference championship. However, the Seminoles' fan base will remember the special year because the College Football Playoff committee selected a one-loss Alabama team over an undefeated Seminoles squad.

The Committee told the general public that the reasoning behind Florida State not being included in the invitational was because do-it-all quarterback Jordan Travis suffered a season-ending injury and the play with Brock Glenn and Tate Rodemaker was not good enough.

Even with the injury, Travis was selected with the 171st overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft by the New York Jets. It seemed to be a perfect opportunity for the rookie to recover from his injury and learn from veterans Aaron Rodgers and Tyrod Taylor.

Rodgers had a forgettable 2024 campaign where he recorded 3,897 yards with 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Ironically enough, he has performed better than all-star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who is competing in today's Super Bowl matchup versus the Philadelphia Eagles.

However, it was reported today that Rodgers will not be back for the 2025 season. This isn't surprising, as the Jets have a new coaching staff and want to move in a different direction for the most important position on the field.

Could this news leave the door open for the second-year Jordan Travis to make his move to be the starter? As much as I would love for that to happen, Travis has been struggling with his recovery from the significant injury, plus this is a new coaching staff that might want a fresh start.

I believe that Jordan Travis could be a special reserve player in the league, at the very least, but he will have to work twice as hard to get back to his original form.
