Injury update for former Florida State and current Jets QB Jordan Travis
Florida State football has gotten off to a horrific start to its 2024 campaign, where they are sitting with a 2-9 record. There are many things to blame for the failures.
Everyone involved in the program has a right to feel frustrated. This is not the standard at Florida State. I didn't envision this program being on life support during the fifth year of the Mike Norvell era, especially after accomplishing a 13-1 season with the Seminoles in 2023.
Florida State was the discussion of the college football landscape. Things began to look so easy for a program with quarterback Jordan Travis leading the offense. Unfortunately, on Senior Night in Doak Campbell Stadium, Travis horrifically broke his leg and the rest was history.
Travis was still selected in the 2024 NFL Draft, where the New York Jets took a chance on him in the fifth round. However, the Jets did put all of their eggs in one basket to acquire veteran Aaron Rodgers. Since the former Seminole signal-caller was recovering from injury, they also added veteran Tyrod Taylor to be the backup.
This seemed like a perfect situation for the rookie quarterback to rehab through his injury and learn under two veterans who have been successful in the professional ranks.
NY Daily News Antwan Staley reported that there have been setbacks with Travis. This is unfortunate for a player who was trying his hardest to rehab through the injury.
The New York Jets currently possess a 3-8 record, so there is no need to force Travis to play and rush his rehab and development. I am not even guaranteeing that he will stay on the team next year since there will be a new coaching staff in the organization when the offseason hits.
Nonetheless, I am hoping for a speedy recovery for Travis as he tries to accomplish his lifelong dream of playing in the NFL.
