Have you ever heard an FSU coach bluntly call out players without calling them by name? Look no further than the last two media interviews with FSU defensive coordinator, Tony White.
He said that there were some guys who were expected to be contributors who didn't show up during the first scrimmage last week. Well, FSU has its second scrimmage on Sunday night, which was more of a natural scrimmage without forced situations, and he may have been even more ticked off that the same thing happened.
"Some guys who quite frankly need to step their a** up, it's unacceptable."
My question is, who do we think those players are? It's likely upperclassmen with a lot of experience, who we haven't heard anything regarding limitations with injuries.
He's named guys on the defensive line, linebackers, and in the secondary. Who hasn't he mentioned in his last two interviews?
- Shyheim Brown
- Daniel Lyons
- KJ Sampson
- Tyeland Coleman
- Conrad Hussey(he was hurt in the spring, so maybe he's still dealing with some stuff)
- Jabrill Rawls
- Quindarrius Jones
We haven't heard Shyheim Brown's name ALL camp. We hear about Earl Little, KJ Kirkland, and even Ashlynd Barker at safety quite a bit. We hear the Desir twins EVERY interview, and I haven't heard much from Daniel Lyons or KJ Sampson to a lesser degree. Tyeland Coleman came from the JUCO ranks, but freshmen should be getting more love.

Frankly, I'm still surprised Hussey made it back to spring after last year. I know he was hurt(and maybe he's still dealing), but we haven't heard anything about him. Rawls and Jones have been inconsistent in their play. We've heard their names here and there, but they have too much experience to have freshman Shamar Arnoux showing them up.
Those guys listed are a few I think check the box of who the coaches would count on for reps this season. I might have missed a couple, but the good news is the majority of the team seems to be with the program.
The other good news is Tony White has made it clear players will NOT play if they are not with the program. That's music to my ears. I can't wait to see the first depth chart they release!
