Florida State football coaches have been busy hosting recruits for Junior Days in January, and have spent time on the road visiting targets at their high schools and homes. There are not many people giving Mike Norvell a chance to make it through or past the 2026 season.
However, cutting the dead weight on the coaching staff may have provided some juice early on. FSU got some quality targets on campus and seemed to be all over social media with targets posting pictures with FSU coaches.
FSU has already offered 380+ recruits in the 2027 class. Here’s a breakdown of where the majority of those recruits reside:
- Florida (84)
- Georgia (76)
- Texas (43)
- North Carolina (20)
- Louisiana (18)
- Alabama (17)
- Tennessee (17)
- Mississippi (12)
- Pennsylvania (11)
- California (10)
- Illinois (9)
- Maryland (8)
- New Jersey (8)
- South Carolina (8)
- Virginia (8)
- Arizona (7)
- Nevada (4)
- Several states with three or fewer targets

As you can see, FSU spends most of its resources in the two states that matter most. Right now, 42 percent of the offers have gone to recruits in Florida and Georgia. We could argue that FSU is spending too much on recruiting places like Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi. The top players rarely leave those states to come to FSU.
What positions does FSU covet?
- QB (16)
- RB (40)
- WR (46)
- OL (52)
- TE (21)
- DL (63)
- LB (29)
- DB (80)
- Athletes (34)
Obviously, FSU will likely only take one quarterback. They are casting a wide net at RB, WR, OL, and DL, and they’ll never have problems finding defensive backs. FSU has five commits in its 2027 class, with the latest blue-chip defensive end added a couple of days ago. FSU needs to hit the trenches hard in this recruiting class, so it’ll be interesting to see if they continue working to secure more commitments there.
