Florida State football's coaching staff has been bringing in multiple 2027 prospects on various weekend for Junior Day events. Going into Friday, the Seminoles only had four commitments secured in this recruiting cycle.
However, it was only a matter of time before that number changed. As we noted earlier in the week, defensive ends coach Nick Williams has been working hard on the recruiting trail to try to get Florida State some elite pass-rushing prospects.
It is refreshing to see because fans see the arch-rival Miami Hurricanes succeed all of the time in the trenches, which was also a reason why they got into the College Football Playoffs and were a possession away from beating the Indiana Hoosiers.
Florida State lands a commitment from Class of 2027 four-star defensive end Anthony Cavallaro
Florida State has been in the mix for several defensive end prospects, so fans knew that good news could be coming soon. Well, on Friday afternoon, it happened, as Class of 2027 four-star defensive end Anthony Cavallaro from Largo, Florida, announced his commitment to the Seminoles.
I am proud to announce that I am 1000% committed to The Florida State University 🍢🍢🍢 GO NOLESSS!!! Thank you to all of my coaches and family for supporting me through this whole process!@Coach_Norvell @FSUCoachTW @Coach_Knighton @CoachNickWill @JaleelMcrae @FSUFootball pic.twitter.com/cYCoJrM74i

Some people may question the commitment because it is eleven months until the Early Signing Period begins. However, there is a great pledge from a position of need that the Seminoles could use.
Cavallaro was very productive during the 2025 season, where he recorded 60 tackles (25 for loss),12.5 sacks, and 26 quarterback hurries (according to MaxPreps). This is someone from the state of Florida whom the Seminoles needed to add to their class.
The pass rusher visited Florida State on its Junior Day last weekend, on January 17th. It looks like the coaching staff is prioritizing defense this cycle because four of the five commitments are on the defensive side of the football.
It is great to see Nick Williams's hard work pay off in pursuing prospects. Something tells me that Florida State is getting to love the energy that Coach Williams brings to this program.
