What FSU softball did to California has the Bears questioning its East Coast trip

It’s bad enough that the California Bears had to travel all the way from the West Coast to face the Florida State Softball team. What made it worse was that they traveled all that distance to get destroyed in all three games via a five-inning run-rule.

FSU defeated the Bears 12-2, 9-0, and 9-1 in the three games. FSU pitchers only surrendered three runs on 11 hits. They struck out 16 times and only had four walks in the series.

The FSU offense scored 30 runs on 29 hits and didn’t strike out a single time in the series. FSU also played a clean sheet defensively in each game, while California committed three errors over the weekend.

We knew California wasn't a good team coming into the weekend, but the series wasn't competitive at all. FSU has played six ACC games and five have ended via run-rule in five innings.

The slate will get a little more difficult next weekend when they leave the friendly confines of Tallahassee and travel to face the Clemson Tigers. However, Clemson doesn't seem to have the caliber of team they had a couple of years ago.

The Noles will face North Florida in mid-week action before making that trip. They have won 17 consecutive games since losing against Alabama on February 21st. They have literally gone a month without losing, granted the competition hasn't been close to elite.

It would have been great to see them face Texas Tech a few days ago if the Red Raiders didn't find a way to cancel the game. Nevertheless, the teams seems to be in a nice groove, and we'll see how things progress as the competition improves.
