Florida State football made headlines this offseason as they suffered a 2-10 record. The Seminole fanbase knew that this was not the standard of what Florida State was all about. Head football coach Mike Norvell is heading into his sixth year at the program's helm, and it has to be one of his more pivotal campaigns.
Norvell knew that coaching staff changes were needed, as well as recruit/transfer acquisitions. The Seminoles landed inside the top 20 in recruiting for the 2025 cycle, which was super encouraging.
The transfer portal class includes quarterback Thomas Castellanos (Boston College), tight end Markeston Douglas (Arizona State), offensive tackle Gunnar Hansen (Vanderbilt), defensive end James Williams (Nebraska), and linebacker Stefon Thompson (Nebraska).
However, the fan base is itching to see which transfer will be next to commit to Florida State. Unfortunately, targeted prospects such as offensive lineman Caden Kitler (Arkansas), offensive lineman Addison Nichols (SMU), offensive lineman Marcellus Marshall (Minnesota), and defensive lineman Lee Hunter (Texas Tech) have committed elsewhere.
The Seminoles are hosting offensive tackle Adrian Medley (UCF) and defensive end DeAnte McCray (Western Kentucky) for a visit. I already mentioned Medley, who has a crystal ball prediction for Florida State.
Western Kentucky redshirt sophomore defensive end transfer DeAnte McCray has arrived for a visit at Florida State. McCray played in the Hilltoppers's bowl game last night versus James Madison and recorded six tackles. He finished the year with 53 tackles and 2.5 sacks.
It would be a nice addition to the defensive line to pair alongside Nebraska's James Williams, who has a great relationship with defensive line coach Terrance Knighton. The Seminoles were supposed to have a dominant defensive line in 2024 with starters such as Patrick Payton, Darrell Jackson Jr., Joshua Farmer, and Marvin Jones Jr.
Florida State really needs to land McCray in the recruiting class to at least have serviceable depth on the defensive line.
