FSU'S 2026 RECRUITING CLASS OUTLOOK
Florida State football's 2026 recruiting class has been serviceable thus far, where they rank as the 22nd-best in the 247Sports Composite. The Seminoles' fan base wants it to be higher, but I will admit that it is good to see the program getting positive momentum over the last couple of days.
Florida State has fourteen prospects committed to the program. The biggest obstacle has been making sure many of those recruits stay true to their pledge. The Seminoles have seen enough of the Signing Day fiascos with Travis Hunter and KJ Bolden.
Many of the discussions revolved around worrying about commits potentially flipping has been about four-star linebacker Karon Maycock, where he will be making a final decision between Florida State, Alabama, and Florida.
Disclaimer: His latest visit to the Crimson Tide has me thinking that he will likely announce his commitment to Alabama.
COMMITS TO WORRY ABOUT
Florida State has a good group of prospects that I am excited to have the Seminoles grow their future foundation with. However, other coaches across the country want to secure their commitments for their institutions.
Two commits that I want to mention are four-star defensive back Tedarius Hughes and three-star offensive tackle Xavier Payne because the Syracuse Orange are involved in their recruitments.
Head football coach Fran Brown has done a tremendous job in constructing that program. The Orange went 10-3 during the 2024 season, which included massive wins over Georgia Tech, UNLV, Miami, and Washington State.
I know that Florida State has more championship prestige than Syracuse, but the Seminoles have struggled in recent years to be a consistent program. The Seminoles are also attempting to flip four-star defensive end Kamron Wilson from the Orange. However, his official visit has been moved to in season instead of the summer.
I would not worry about Syracuse right now with Hughes and Payne, but it is something to monitor for the future.
