Florida State football is ranked as the 12th-best recruiting class in the 2026 cycle, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. The Seminoles only have six prospects committed to the fold at this time.

The fan base was sad after losing out on five-star quarterback Brady Smigiel. However, I get why Smigiel de-committed since the Seminoles hired former UCF head football coach Gus Malzahn to be the offensive coordinator, and his offenses primarily utilize the running game.

With that said, Florida State fans were wondering why the good news would come again as the program recently had four-star running back Amari Clemons from Marianna, Florida, join the recruiting class.

Running backs are a position group that isn't as valued (even though I believe Clemons is a very talented prospect). The Seminoles have other prospects that should be prioritized.

Florida State head football coach Mike Norvell decided to hire some new assistant coaches this offseason. It was bound to happen after the 2-10 season.

One of the notable changes was relieving linebackers coach Randy Shannon. Many individuals within the fan base thought that Coach Shannon lacked the recruiting ability to be successful.

As a result, the Seminoles moved defensive end coach John Papuchis to the linebackers coach role. This was a seamless transition for the program. However, some wondered if it would make much of a difference.

Well, on Thursday afternoon, Florida State fans got phenomenal news as Class of 2026 four-star linebacker Karon Maycock from Miami Central High School in Miami, Florida announced his commitment to the Seminoles.

Maycock already scheduled his official visit to the Seminoles for the weekend of June 20th. However, it is great to have such a talented athlete from the South Florida area in the fold already.
