THOMAS AND FARMER GET THE SHINE
Florida State football had two draft picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, with defensive back Azareye'h Thomas and defensive tackle Joshua Farmer in this year's edition. This is what happens when the 2024 season ended with a 2-10 record.
I cannot believe that Thomas was selected in the third round. I thought that the defensive back would be picked in the late first/early second round. Former Alabama head football coach Nick Saban stated in the draft coverage that he was worried about his ability in zone coverage. Much of the Seminoles' coverage last year was man-to-man, which he excels at.
As it pertains to Farmer, I thought a late third/early fourth round pick would make sense. There were times when his technique didn't show up on film all of the time. However, he still had production during his playing days in Tallahassee. The New England Patriots were a team that he visited, so it made sense.
MOMENTUM IN THE 2026 NFL DRAFT?
Florida State football only had two draft picks in this year's edition. But there should be a sense of renewal and hope that the Seminoles get at least twice the amount of draft picks after the 2025 season (I have listed my three highest chances to be draft picks on the roster).
However, even though Florida State had double-digit draft picks in the 2024 NFL Draft, the College Football Playoff committee still allowed the undefeated Seminoles with a perfect regular season and conference championship to be snubbed.
NOTABLE UNDRAFTED NOLES
Even though Thomas and Farmer were featured in the draft, other players on the Seminoles' roster got undrafted free agent deals, such as:
-QB DJ Uiagalelei: Los Angeles Chargers
-OL Jeremiah Byers: Arizona Cardinals
-LB Cam Riley: New England Patriots
-CB Fentrell Cypress II: Washington Commanders
-K Ryan Fitzgerald: Carolina Panthers
