FSU FOOTBALL FALL SCRIMMAGE

Florida State football will be taking on the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday, August 30th, so it is go-time for the Seminoles as they prepare quickly for their season to start. The coaching staff, fans, and players should know right away if the squad is legitimate.

Offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn spoke to the media on Monday afternoon about the Seminoles' scrimmage on Sunday. Fans want to see the offense shine after the abysmal performance during the 2024 season.

MALZAHN GIVES INSIGHT ABOUT THE OFFENSE

Coach Malzahn is a no-nonsense type of coach who doesn't seem to love the glamour of the media, but he is sometimes brutally honest about his players and their development. He doesn't have to sugarcoat about anyone since he arrived in Tallahassee this offseason.

Malzahn already mentioned in his presser that true freshman quarterback Kevin Sperry took reps as the backup, which is a massive development for the youngster since redshirt sophomore Brock Glenn (who has collegiate experience) is still on the roster.

He gave another tidbit as he shared that true freshman running back Ousmane Kromah got a couple of reps with the starters. This is something that a ton of Seminole fans wanted to hear because the coaching staff and players have raved about him.

Kromah was someone that Florida State had to pry away from the home-state Georgia Bulldogs in his recruitment process, with him being a highly-regarded four-star prospect. I thought it was far-fetched to suggest that the Seminoles would land him, but they stepped up to the plate.

The running backs mentioned recently have been him, Gavin Sawchuk, and Roydell Williams. The former Alabama transfer Roydell Williams has been gaining traction as someone who could have significant reps in the season opener versus the Crimson Tide.

However, it would be a shame if the Seminoles had Kromah perform like the best back on the roster and they don't play him. I am at the point where if the youngster gives the team the best chance to win, then they should start him.
