The true freshman could be a big piece in Florida State's offense in 2025.

FSU FOOTBALL

Florida State football opens up the 2025 season with the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday, August 30th at 3:30 PM EST. The Seminoles want to prove the doubters, such as ESPN's Paul Finebaum and Greg McElroy, wrong after the disaster of 2-10 last year.

Head football coach Mike Norvell had to look himself in the mirror and make the necessary changes to keep the standard of this proud football program that is used to competing for conference and national championships.

One of the biggest developments was hiring six new coaches to the staff. This allowed the Seminoles to finish with a top-fifteen recruiting class in the 2025 cycle. There are many recruits that Florida State fans raved about in this class.

TAE'SHAUN GELSEY

The Seminole faithful like to bring up pieces such as running back Ousmane Kromah, wide receiver Jayvan Boggs, and defensive back Shamar Arnoux, but Norvell mentioned another member in that recruiting after today's practice.

Coach Norvell stated that freshman wide receiver Tae'Shaun Gelsey had a long touchdown at practice. The Jacksonville, Florida, native continues to be a name that he mentioned in his pressers. During his senior season of high school, Gelsey recorded 48 receptions for 859 yards and nine touchdowns.

The Seminoles have pieces such as Duce Robinson, Squirrel White, Jayvan Boggs, Lawayne McCoy, and Elijah Moore in the rotation, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Gelsey turn some heads in getting meaningful reps.

Florida State grabbed the pass catcher away from the arch-rival Florida Gators after the program thought that he would be best suited at tight end. Even though Gelsey has a listed frame at 6'4" and 235 pounds, it looks to be panning out well for the Seminoles at wide receiver.
