FSU head coach Mike Norvell spoke about Saturday’s practice with the media and seemed pleased with how things went. The coaching staff has a good feel for who their starting 22 will be, but used Saturday’s practice as an opportunity to build depth and continue finalizing some positions where players are still competing.

I wrote about special teams a few days ago, and that unit received special emphasis on Saturday and will continue over the next couple of practices. That unit was among the best nationally last season with field goal kicking and punting. However, FSU has two new guys with little to no experience in 2025.

FSU also has little experience at punt return, and that phase of special teams was abysmal last year.

Injury Update

Squirrel White has been in a boot, but they will limit him over the next week or so and expect him to play against Alabama. Kevin Wynn will miss some time, but will have a few weeks after the Alabama game to get right if he’s not available for that game. They expect backup QB Brock Glenn back this week. The good news is that the team is relatively healthy in the trenches, which will play a major part in the team’s success in 2025.

FSU continues to look for guys to emerge at wide receiver. That’s another point of emphasis, knowing that White is already battling an injury and Duce Robinson missed some of spring camp with one. Freshman Jayvan Boggs has been mentioned a lot, but FSU needs some young guys to emerge for depth purposes at the very least.

Overall, Mike Norvell is happy with where the team is and will begin preparation for Alabama in the next few days.
