MIAMI HYPE TRAIN AGAIN?
Some things never change: Life, death, taxes, and Miami football fans proclaiming that they are "back". It is exhausting to see that delusional fan base continue to find a bright spot in an irrelevant program that hasn't won a national championship in over twenty years.
The Hurricanes haven't even won an ACC championship since they joined the conference. The program is just a mess, and I'm not even bragging on Florida State after their abysmal 2-10 season in 2024. However, the Seminoles have acquired new recruits, transfers, and coaches this offseason.
Meanwhile, head football coach Mario Cristobal is hoping that the Hurricanes will reload after picking up former Georgia quarterback transfer Carson Beck to start in 2025. The truth is that Miami couldn't even make it to the conference championship after adding signal-caller Cam Ward, who ended up being the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft.
CARSON BECK INJURY
Quarterback Carson Beck had a productive career with the Georgia Bulldogs, but he suffered a significant elbow injury in the SEC Championship Game, where Beck didn't compete in the College Football Playoff.
Yes, the Georgia signal-caller beat the Florida State Seminoles in the Orange Bowl by a score of 63-3 after the majority of the roster had opted out of the bowl game after being snubbed wrongly by the committee to a one-loss Alabama team (not to say that Florida State wouldn't have still lost to Georgia if they had them).
However, Beck had some question marks with his consistency in the passing game. The 2024 season wasn't ideal for him with the Bulldogs, as the program had a lack of playmakers. The same could be said about the Hurricanes, who don't have Xavier Restrepo and Isaiah Horton this year.
A picture surfaced on social media where young wide receiver Malachi Toney was trying to catch a football in triple coverage.

If Toney's family member is posting the picture on social media, that likely means that the pass catcher came down with the catch. It is not ideal that the quarterback (probably Carson Beck, who has been known to throw into coverage) decided to throw that type of pass and put it in harm's way.
She could be right with the caption: A picture could be worth a million bucks. They might need to spend a million bucks of NIL money to fix that horrific defensive backfield that allowed Toney to catch that pass in triple coverage.
Per usual, this could be a long season for the Hurricanes as they begin the season with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
