FSU coaches continued to add to their 2026 recruiting class on Thursday with the addition of four-star wide receiver Jasen Lopez. FSU has 20 commits and is the No. 8 recruiting class nationally.

That's unfamiliar territory for FSU football fans in the Mike Norvell era, but a lot of the current momentum can be pinpointed to when FSU legacy and blue-chip wide receiver Devin Carter flipped his commitment from Auburn to the Noles.

Carter was previously committed to FSU early in his recruitment before backing off of that pledge and subsequently committing to Auburn. However, Carter's willingness to embrace the changes made at FSU and believe enough to re-commit helped provide a spark that has energized the fan base.

Not only that, but Carter has been vocal for the Noles after re-committing and has been helping FSU recruit others to Tallahassee to build a top recruiting class.

It has been refreshing to see FSU land blue-chip legacy recruits from the high school ranks. Jay Timmons flipped from Indiana shortly after Carter flipped from Auburn. They joined legacy offensive lineman Michael Ionanta, giving FSU three legacy recruits in the 2026 class so far.

The success with legacy recruits after having arguably the worst season in FSU history has been a surprise. Carter said, "Bring Tally Back" does feel sorta like what a Miami Hurricane fan would say. However, I can't argue it needs to be brought back after last season.

The new coaching staff hired by Mike Norvell has provided some new life to recruiting and it appears they have a few more rounds in the clip. Once FSU adds the remaining commits, the next task will be holding on to them once the season starts. They will have an opportunity to make a statement in the first game of the season against Alabama. If they play well and have some success early in the season, watch out!
