FSU basketball has the No. 11 recruiting class for the 2026 recruiting cycle, but could get a boost if it adds another recruit who decided to reclassify from 2027. Four-star Martay Barnes was the No. 54 player and No. 4 shooting guard in the 2027 recruiting class.
He has completed the paperwork to reclassify to the 2026 class and received his updated ranking. He’s ranked as the No. 67 player and No. 11 shooting guard. That’s not too far removed from where he was if he had prolonged his entry into college.
One thing that likely helps is that he’s already 18 years old and will be 19 in early August. One of the biggest things that’s detrimental to guys who reclassify is that they become one of the youngest in their class and often need more time to develop physically. That won’t be the case with Barnes at his age.
The crazy part is that he will be a full two years older than I was when I started college at 17 years old.
The only competition is the Auburn, who Barnes officially visited last weekend to see the Tigers defeat Kentucky. He'll take his official visit to FSU when the host the rival Miami Hurricanes on Tuesday night at 9 p.m.
FSU has some momentum on the court, as the Noles have beaten two teams in the upper half of the ACC over the last two weeks. They already upset Miami on the road last month. A win could help seal the deal and add to Luke Loucks impressive first recruiting class.
