FSU football coaches have the bulk of their 2026 recruiting class complete with 21 commitments in early July. FSU hasn't signed more than 24 high school recruits in the Mike Norvell era, but it looks like the Noles are on their way to breaking that mark in this recruiting cycle, though it won't be by much.

FSU has needs remaining at defensive back, offensive line, linebacker, and edge rusher. How many blue-chip players can they realistically sign to fill those needs? There's a handful remaining, though we'll see FSU in some final lists where they realistically have no chance to land the player.

Here are the top five blue-chip players they could realistically sign:

  • Chancey Kennon (No. 67 overall, No. 8 CB)
  • Heze Kent (No. 149 overall, No. 9 athlete)
  • Rodney Colton Jr. (No. 305 overall, No. 21 LB)
  • Wilson Zierier (No. 267 overall, No. 21 OT)
  • Da'Ron Parks (No. 307 overall, No. 24 interior OL)

Kennon is the only player listed where FSU has clearly been in the driver's seat for a bit. The others will be tough battles for FSU coaches to attempt to win down the stretch. FSU doesn't have any realistic blue-chip targets on the board at edge rusher, though Katrell Webb is a realistic option that's not far from a blue-chip ranking.

Let's say FSU lands two of the five and Webb? That would give FSU 24 commitments, and maybe FSU could pull off a couple of flips during the season if they have a strong start to the season. All of this would be contingent on FSU keeping the commits they have, of course.

This scenario is why we wrote about the four teams that'll likely keep FSU outside of the top-10 recruiting rankings. However, with a strong season and SFU coaches with a full year to build a recruiting board. FSU will definitely have a good shot to finish with a top-10 class in 2027.
