Florida State football has had a history of bringing in tight ends to their offense, given how they utilize them in their scheme. However, some fans feel like they over-prioritize them.
The Seminoles had an effective tight end in Randy Pittman Jr. (when he was healthy), who had experience in Gus Malzahn's offense. However, Pittman Jr. announced that he would be entering the transfer portal, which was a bit shocking to the fan base.
However, Florida State's front office softened the blow as they got sophomore Landen Thomas to return to the Seminoles for the 2026 season after he flirted with the portal himself. This made people believe that Thomas could be a focal point in the offense for next season.
The Seminoles are now hosting Colorado State tight end transfer Rocky Beers this weekend for a visit. The coaching staff probably couldn't resist the idea of bringing in another tight end.
Beers did finish with 31 receptions for 388 yards and seven touchdowns during the 2025 season (according to ESPN Stats and Information). This would be the fourth team that he has been on during his collegiate career, if he actually leaves Colorado State (Air Force, Florida International, and Colorado State).
Beers would have one more year of eligibility remaining. He has locked in visits with Minnesota and Oklahoma, but that could always change if he truly likes what Florida State has to offer him.
Overall, this is not an acquisition that I am super excited about since quarterback, offensive line, defensive line, and linebacker remain to be the top needs for a program trying to get back on the right track, in terms of being a championship contender again.
