FSU FOOTBALL
Florida State football lost to Pittsburgh on Saturday by a score of 34-31 in Doak Campbell Stadium. This left many fans leaving the stadium with no answers in sight, as the Seminoles are now on a three-game losing streak.
The coaching staff is under fire at the moment from the disappointments, and individuals are frustrated after they had to go 2-10 last year and then have to deal with this.
It is becoming exhausting to some, and they want a change in Tallahassee. Patient is thin in college football nowadays, as we saw James Franklin be fired from Penn State on Sunday. With that said, the Seminoles can point fingers at a bunch of different aspects as to why they aren't performing on the field.
SPEEDSTER NEEDS TO BE INVOLVED
Defensive coordinator Tony White has someone that the fan base has been angry with. This is understandable since Pittsburgh's true freshman quarterback, Mason Heintschel, had himself a tremendous performance on Saturday.
However, the offense struggled against the Panthers without playmakers such as Duce Robinson (injured during the game), Jayvan Boggs, Squirrel White, and Randy Pittman Jr. The Tallahassee native Micahi Danzy had a breakout game, but it was not enough.
The unit needed explosiveness, and the Seminoles never used one of its fastest players on the team in running back/athlete Jaylin Lucas. The former Indiana transfer suffered a season-ending injury last year against Boston College, and head football coach Mike Norvell received criticism for not playing him early in 2024.
With offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn being an experienced play caller, it was thought that he could be able to get him involved. Much like the whole team, Lucas excelled against Alabama in the season opener with 88 total yards, but he has only 17 in the last three games.
Florida State plays a struggling Stanford this weekend on the road, where the offense needs to get their confidence back. Jaylin Lucas would be a nice spark for the offense to use with his above-average burst and quickness.
