This FSU football commit won't be removing his Seminoles-related tattoo

Florida State kept its top commit during the Early Signing Period.

Florida State football had to take care of business during the Early Signing Period with keeping its commits in place, since the program had two disappointing seasons in a row, where they finished 2-10 in 2024 and 5-7 in 2025. This comes with a price, as highly-touted prospects could be looking elsewhere.

The Seminoles have a couple of recruits that they needed to put a fence around, since the Ohio State Buckeyes flipped five-star defensive back Jay Timmons from Florida State. This was disappointing since Timmons was a legacy prospect.

Nonetheless, the program cannot let that snowball their efforts and make it a miserable Early Signing Period. They have to lick their wounds and move forward.

The top prospect in the Seminoles' 2026 class was four-star Chauncey Kennon from Booker High School in Sarasota, Florida. Kennon had a huge celebration commitment party when he announced that he would be pledging to Florida State.

It almost reminded me of Charles Lester's recruitment from the 2024 cycle. The interesting aspect about Kennon's recruitment is that he revealed that he had a Florida State tattoo on his body. If anyone knows this, tattoo removal can be incredibly painful, so when someone has a tattoo, it better be something that they like.

Kennon was vocal on social media when the Seminoles announced that they would be retaining Mike Norvell for the 2026 season. It wasn't a popular choice amongst the fan base, but the truth of the matter is that they aren't the ones that will be suiting up for him in the Garnet and Gold.

Kennon recently got downgraded to a four-star prospect after he was previously a five-star. This comes as no surprise, as many recruits get that type of treatment when they are committed to Florida State. Nonetheless, we at ChopChat are excited to have Kennon officially in the fold.
