FSU FOOTBALL
College football is a wild sport, especially on the recruiting front. Florida State was riding high after its season-opening victory over Alabama. This had the public buzzing about the Seminoles being serious contenders for the College Football Playoff.
The Seminoles have now lost their third game in a row, as they fell to Pittsburgh and true freshman quarterback Mason Heintschel on Saturday afternoon in Doak Campbell Stadium. The fan base has seemed to give up on head football coach Mike Norvell's ability to lead this team.
However, the recruits in the 2026 recruiting class remain pledged to him and this program. It is ranked as the thirteenth-best recruiting class in the cycle, according to 247Sports Composite.
LEGACY FLIPPING?
Florida State has seen prospects flip from the university after originally being committed to the program. This has been a frustrating trend for the fan base, following the debacles of the Travis Hunter and KJ Bolden recruitments.
However, we aren't here to talk about the past. The Seminoles have to worry about keeping four-star defensive back Jay Timmons in the class after it was announced that he will be taking an official visit to Ohio State in November.
It was only a matter of time before some of the prospects started looking around after the Seminoles had a couple of losses in a row. However, the fan base did not like the idea that a legacy recruit (his father is former linebacker Lawrence Timmons) is looking elsewhere.
That is the reality of the situation in Tallahassee, as the squad looks to get back in the win column. The Buckeyes have been successful for quite a while, and it is concerning that Ohio State is pushing for Timmons' services. While it is encouraging that Florida State has five-star defensive back Chauncey Kennon committed, this is someone that the Seminoles cannot afford to lose.
Florida State needs to continue to apply pressure in the recruitment.
