Florida State football did not have the season that it wanted to have in 2025, as the team fell to a 5-7 record even after defeating Alabama in the opener. The fan base was embarrassed by what transpired to close out the year.

Head coach Mike Norvell has only had two winning seasons in his six years at the helm. That isn't good enough for Florida State, which is a place that should be used to competing for conference and national championships.

To make matters worse, arch-rival Miami made the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, and Florida has a "new car smell" with hiring Jon Sumrall as head coach. Things need to finally turn in the Seminoles' favor.

Florida State's Desir Twins have a ton to prove this offseason for the Seminoles

Florida State football is beginning its Tour of Duty workouts. This is the first part of what separates the men from the boys. When the Seminoles are in a dogfight in the second half of teams, this is where the preparation begins to set in so that they can be successful.

Florida State had an adventurous offseason, where many players elected to test their value in the transfer portal. Obviously, it is a smart idea because the Seminoles have talent on their squad and want to be compensated.

However, college football has gotten out of control with all of the leveraging. Florida State's biggest players to retain were defensive linemen Mandrell and Darryll Desir. The brothers showed flashes during the season, especially Mandrell Desir, who was a Freshman All-American.

Darryll (No. 1) and Mandrell Desir (No. 3) recently changed their jersey numbers this offseason to the same ones that they wore in high school. With all of the leveraging and threatening to leave the program, the fan base wants to see exceptional production from both of them.

This is the time when they become the leaders in the Seminoles' defense for 2026.
