Florida State's 2025 football season is still taking place, as the Seminoles take on the Virginia Tech Hokies this Saturday at 7:30 PM EST in Doak Campbell Stadium. The fan base might be checked out with the program losing five of its last six games.
This is not where individuals thought that they would be after they defeated Alabama in the season opener by a score of 31-17. There were some that suggest Florida State could be in the College Football Playoff.
However, August 31st seems like a lifetime ago, and the fan base is already focusing on next season. Head football coach Mike Norvell has seen his job security tighten with pressure, as this squad has struggled to be consistent on the gridiron.
PIVOTAL PIECES IN 2026 FOR FSU
The Seminole faithful don't know what this administration will do with Coach Norvell since it is a $54 million buyout. However, the foundation still has to be set for the future.
The offensive line has performed well under assistant coach Herb Hand, but pieces such as Gunnar Hansen, Richie Leonard IV, Luke Petitbon, Adrian Medley, Jacob Rizy, and Micah Pettus are going to be graduating seniors.
The Seminoles have had to dig into the transfer portal to find viable pieces to be contributors. However, head football coach Mike Norvell has mentioned that youngsters Lucas Simmons and Jonathan Daniels are two that have continued to impress and grow throughout the season.
This will be a pivotal offseason for them. Former offensive line coach Alex Atkins (who is now at LSU) recruited relatively well with the Seminoles, but his biggest downfall was the fact that he never played the guys that he brought in for the high school ranks and always relied on transfers.
Instead of bringing in five new starters on the offensive line via the portal, I hope that the Seminoles can find production in the offensive tackles Lucas Simmons and Jonathan Daniels, as well as interior linemen Sandman Thompson and Andre Otto.
