When former FSU quarterback Luke Kromenhoek decided to enter the transfer portal after the 2024 season, we said it was a mistake. We predicted he’d probably transfer somewhere, not play, and have to enter the transfer portal again.
Well, a year later, here we are:
NEW: Mississippi State QB Luke Kromenhoek plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, @Hayesfawcett3 reports.

First of all, you know Kromenhoek didn’t play much when they decided to use a picture of him in a FSU uniform when he transferred to Mississippi State. Kromenhoek played in two games, threw four passes, and had four rushing attempts for 24 yards.
It was more of Kromenhoek’s father to blame than anyone. He thought Kromenhoek proved enough as a freshman that he should have been the starting quarterback going into the 2025 season. He reportedly wanted more money also, but FSU going into the 2025 season with him as the starter made no sense.

He lacked sufficient experience and required ongoing development in the passing game. He could have gained that experience at FSU if he had stayed and played in games where FSU had commanding leads. There was talk of him not wanting to be in Gus Malzahn’s offense, but all he ran a lot in his freshman season at FSU.
He had to learn a new offense at Mississippi State after transferring, and now he will have to learn a new offense and compete for the starting job again. If he and his father had exhibited patience, he could have been in a prime position to lead FSU in 2026.
He’ll likely have to transfer to a smaller school for a chance to play because Mississippi State was the only school that showed interest when he left FSU. It’s another prime example of the transfer portal influencing kids and parents to make rash decisions.
