Florida State football had a 2-10 record in 2024. Most fans want to forget the season even happened, for good reason. The Seminoles had a busy offseason where it replaced six coaches on staff and acquired many players to the roster via the recruiting ranks and transfer portal.
Head football coach Mike Norvell knew that last season was not the standard of this proud program. For many associated with the program, 2025 cannot arrive fast enough. I mentioned in a previous article that the ACC will release the full conference schedule on Monday, January 27th, from 9 to 11 p.m. EST on the ACC Network and ESPN2.
However, before the conference reveals the free slate, they decided to release the conference opener for each team on Friday afternoon.
The Seminoles learned their first opponent would be playing Virginia on the road on Friday, September 26th. On the graphic, it states that it is Game 4, so that means Florida State will play Alabama, East Texas A&M, have a bye week, Kent State, and then Virginia.
That is a nice setup for the program, as they hope to start fast on the year. The arch-rival Miami Hurricanes learned that their first conference opponent was playing Florida State on the road in Game 5 on October 4th.
The Seminoles will be looking to get revenge versus the Hurricanes from last year's meeting where Florida State looked to be outmatched. This time could be different as newly acquired quarterback transfer Carson Beck could still be recovering from his injury.
Confidence will be key for the Seminoles as they need everything they can as well as a fired-up Doak Campbell Stadium to cheer Florida on to victory.
