Florida State's offense has been the worst in all of college football. The Seminoles are currently last in the FBS in scoring offense (13.3 PPG). Florida State has not done anything right this year. It wasn't like the Seminole fan base was optimistic in the passing game with losing pieces such as Jordan Travis, Johnny Wilson, Keon Coleman, and Jaheim Bell.
However, the coaching staff was excited about what the running game could be. They thought that the position room would be versatile, adding pieces such as Roydell Williams, Jaylin Lucas, Kam Davis, and Micahi Danzy.
Florida State's running game has been a disaster. The Seminoles average 130th in the FBS in rushing yards per game (80.5). Lucas suffered a season-ending injury during the Boston College contest, and Williams was out for an extended amount of time.
Head football coach Mike Norvell mentioned that senior running back Roydell Williams is progressing well. He doesn't expect him to be back versus Charleston Southern, but he will probably have him available next week against Florida.
This is not ChompChat, so I don't want to give much credit to arch-rival Florida. However, the Gators are coming off a huge win at home versus LSU, where they have a 5-5 record. They do face Ole Miss this weekend in Ben-Hill Griffin Stadium, and the Rebels are vying for a College Football Playoff spot.
If Florida comes into the Florida State game on the road with a 5-6 record, this could be a great spot for the Gators' recruiting efforts as they look to be bowl-eligible. Florida State is looking to spoil Florida's bowl efforts. I don't like moral victories, but it would at least be good to beat the Gators.
While I know that Williams could be back, he has only recorded 20 carries for 54 yards and two touchdowns for the Seminoles this year. The Alabama running back transfer is a senior, and we will see if he will be eligible for a medical redshirt and return to the roster in 2025.
However, I am happy for him to get his opportunity in the rivalry game.
