It's been said that absence makes the heart grow fonder and if that's the case, then FSU fans will love that the Seminoles have made the post-spring bowl projections for CBSSports.

Brad Crawford has his updated list coming out of spring practice and the Seminoles jump on the board with a projection to play in the Duke's Mayo Bowl against Big Ten opponent Illinois. If this projection turns out to be accurate, it would be FSU's third bowl game under Mike Norvell.

The Duke's Mayo Bowl is considered a mid-tier bowl in the ACC's bowl tie-in lineup along the lines of the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl and the Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl, but not quite to the level of the Pop Tarts Bowl or the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl.

Honestly, I think most FSU fans would be happy with any game in December right now. The Seminoles have only been to three bowls in the past eight years, so it wouldn't be shocking to see a large number of the FSU faithful fill out Bank of America Stadium to watch a battle of Warchants between the 'Noles and the Fighting Illini.

So, that means that the Seminoles are projected for around 7 wins, which would fall in line with the over/under totals on the books and that would put them somewhere around the 6th or 7th spot in the ACC. I mean it's not great, but it's better than most seasons right?

The bigger question would be if it's enough for Mike Norvell to keep his job. I think that Michael Alford and the FSU administration would be more than happy to kick this can down the road for another year and save some money on that huge contract. Will making a bowl game convince the money people to put a little more in Norvell's coffers for talent? That's hard to say, but it wouldn't hurt his efforts.

Either way, an FSU football season with a 13th game would be nice, and it would be another indication that there might be light at the end of this tunnel.
