The 2025 NFL Draft started with a bang as the Jacksonville Jaguars made a trade offer to the Cleveland Browns to receive the No. 2 overall pick to select Colorado wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter.
That was a major shake-up to many mock drafts as individuals had Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders being drafted by the Browns. Unfortunately, even when Cleveland was on the clock with the No. 5 overall pick, they decided to go in a different direction.
This is ChopChat, why am I discussing a Colorado quarterback prospect?
Well, for starters, Sanders played the Nebraska Cornhuskers on the road in September 2024 for their second game of the season. It was a game that the talented signal-caller would like to have back as he completed 23 of his 38 passes for 244 yards and one touchdown with one interception. Not to mention, he recorded eight carries for -30 rushing yards.
The Cornhuskers' defense was guided by current Florida State defensive coordinator Tony White, who was hired this offseason by head football coach Mike Norvell. This was considered a home-run hire by the Seminoles as they look to bring physicality back to the program on that side of the football.
Coach White has had success at previous stops such as Nebraska and Syracuse, where he had four straight seasons where they were ranked in the top-25 in terms of total defense. I know that former defensive coordinator Adam Fuller was sometimes used as a "scapegoat" by the fan base since the Seminoles did not perform up to expectations with the type of talent on the roster.
Tony White looks to have numerous contributors that should be vital parts on the defense, including the Houston cornerback Jeremiah Wilson that was added via the transfer portal today.
I hope that he brings a physical brand of aggression to Tallahassee. It all starts when the Alabama Crimson Tide come to town in late August.
