Prospect to monitor? This defensive end transfer could be someone for the Seminoles

Should FSU football go after this defensive end transfer?

FSU FOOTBALL DEFENSIVE LINE

Florida State football is entering the 2025 season with an entirely new team from last year. The Seminoles made it a priority to add new coaches and players to a program that limped to the finish line with a 2-10 record.

I thought that Florida State would've performed much better since they were thought to have a burning desire to prove the doubters wrong after their College Football Playoff snub in 2023.

With that said, the Seminoles were expected to be competitive in 2024. Even legendary head football coach Nick Saban called Florida State's defensive line one of the best in the country. The Seminoles had pieces such as Patrick Payton, Marvin Jones Jr., Joshua Farmer, Darrell Jackson Jr., and Sione Lolohea (just to name a few).

NEW NAME TO MONITOR

The Seminoles did not perform up to Saban's lofty expectations in 2024, but they did add a new defensive coordinator, Tony White, who runs a multiple 3-3-5 defense that is supposed to be physical and add confusion to opposing offenses.

Also, Florida State added several defensive line transfers such as James Williams, Deante McCray, Deamontae Diggs, and Jayson Jenkins. I like the group as a whole, but Williams is the most productive of the bunch, as he recorded five sacks as a Nebraska Cornhusker last season.

Interestingly, the Seminoles did not get more in the transfer portal, even though I like the group as a whole. On3's Hayes Fawcett reported that Syracuse redshirt freshman defensive end KingJoseph Edwards plans to enter the transfer portal.

While I am not suggesting that KingEdwards would be a can't-miss prospect in the transfer portal, I don't think it would be bad to see Florida State garner interest for him, given that they recruited the former four-star prospect out of high school.

I would like to see the Seminoles be involved in the recruitment (if he isn't asking for too much in NIL) because Florida State football feels confident that former Tennessee defensive lineman transfer Jayson Jenkins will return from his injury this season, but if we know anything about this coaching staff is that they are hush-hush about injuries.

It should be noted that KingEdwards had three sacks in the September matchup versus Holy Cross, which Syracuse won by a score of 42-14. Then the pass rusher had two tackles in the bowl victory against Washington State. This would be a development take for the future if the coaching staff were able to obtain him.
