Projected Alabama starting quarterback looks suspect throwing in short video clip

It's only one rep, but that didn't look great.

FSU football fans are ready to rip the band-aid off and jump right into the 2025 season against the Alabama Crimson Tide on August 30th. It was already a big game for both schools, but there has been some notable back-and-forth between the two programs.

The teams have their fall camps underway as they look to find answers to the questions on each respective team. One question for Alabama is how good they will be at quarterback?

The projected starter is former five-star Ty Simpson, but he has little to no experience. It's why I wrote FSU will have the better quarterback between the two teams when they square off. It's only a short snapshot of a practice rep on video, but what I saw from Simpson didn't look great. Check it:

I've already given some insight into how I think Kalen Deboer will play that game. I don't expect him to turn Simpson loose too much in a season opener on the road in a game they must look good in, especially against a defensive coordinator who's known to throw multiple looks.

However, this throw is on air (with no defensive players), and it's extremely late. The receiver should catch this ball in stride and never have to stop to make the catch.

This is the type of throw that gets picked off or gets the receiver destroyed. The goal for FSU defensive coordinator Tony White is to stop the run and to force Simpson to beat the Noles with his arm.

FSU is a two-touchdown betting underdog. However, if the Noles keep it close and the pressure starts to mount on the road, could the young and inexperienced quarterback make some costly mistakes?

We've seen crazier things happen. If Simpson or his teammates read this and want to prove he's that guy, that's exactly what FSU wants. Just look at what Tony White did to Shedeur Sanders last year.
