WR Elijah Moore showing promise in the Seminoles' second fall scrimmage
Florida State football secured four wide receiver prospects in the 2024 recruiting cycle with Camdon Frier, BJ Gibson, Lawayne McCoy, and Elijah Moore.
Even though Frier, Gibson, and McCoy enrolled in Tallahassee early, it seems like Moore has been getting the most traction. Fans were not expecting the 6'4" playmaker to emerge as a viable threat as a true freshman.
However, the Olney, Maryland native has made a name for himself where he is consistently high-pointing the football and giving quarterback DJ Uiagalelei a weapon to throw to. We know that Malik Benson should be the number-one option in the offense.
It should noted that the Seminoles need to find weapons other than Benson to be successful. It is great to have an offense that is centered around the idea of running the football effectively. However, if Benson is double-covered, who will Florida State turn to? Could they stack the box to ensure the running game is shut down?
It is important to find viable receiving options in the offense. Florida State has playmakers such as Ja'Khi Douglas, Hykeem Williams, Kentron Poitier, Darion Williamson, and others in their rotation.
However, true freshman wide receiver Elijah Moore could be just what the doctor ordered when it comes to finding playmakers who can contribute early and often.
Norvell spoke to the media after the second fall scrimmage about Moore: "Elijah Moore is continuing to make some plays. He still has some areas of growth that he is going to have to have but he has put himself in position."
It is great to see the former four-star prospect continue to develop his skill set. Moore has the upside to be a No. 2 wide receiver in the offense. However, that is a lot to put on a true freshman's plate but the coaching staff seems to really like what he brings to the table.
I cannot wait to see the Maryland native rock out in the garnet and gold!
